Creative Collage Summer Camp Overview

Objective
Create your own art piece with collage! A collage is an artistic technique in which students take different types of materials and form them all into one collaborative piece of art. Combining paper, buttons, ribbons, beads and recyclable materials to create a unique works of art. 


Class Structure

  • Icebreaker (10 minutes) 
  • Review (30 minutes) 
  • Lesson Introduction (10 minutes)

Class Outline 

Monday
Tuesday
  • Review of Monday's class structure and expectations
  • New Lesson: Additional paper collage subjects discussed including photo montages and decoupage. 
  • Art History: Students will see examples of various photo montages and decoupage as well as learn of the history on each subject.
  • Create: Student will create a new paper collage with focus towards photo montages and decoupages. 
  • Results discussion and inference 
  • What to expect tomorrow
Wednesday
  • Review of Tuesday's class 
  • Today New Lesson: Fabric Collage 
  • Art History: Students will see examples of various fabric collages as well as learn of the origin and history of fabric collages. Create: Student begin creating their own fabric collage utilizing the tools and skills learned in our lesson. 
  • Results discussion and inference 
  • What to expect tomorrow
Thursday
  • Review of Wednesday's class s
  • New Lesson: 3D and Popout Collage. Art History: Students will see examples of various 3D collages as well as learn of the origin and history of 3D collages. Create: Student begin creating their own 3D collage utilizing the tools and skills learned in our lesson. Students are encouraged to use items collected from their yard, trash, home, etc. to incorporate into their art pieces. 
  • Results discussion and inference 
  • What to expect tomorrow
Friday
  • Review of Thursday's class 
  • Review: Students recap the history of 3D/ popout, fabric, photo montage, paper, and decoupage collages. 
  • Discussion: Student discuss their favorite type of collage made, why it was their favorite, and where their inspiration comes from. 
  • Final Touches: Students allowed time to place any last minute touches on any of their art pieces so they are ready to place in the class art show. 
  • Art Show Prep: Students to get class ready for the art show to begin at 11am. Students to move tables and chairs, hang their art pieces on the wall, use lights, table cloths, streamers, etc. to decorate the room. Create cards to vote the best piece in each category; best overall. 
  • Results discussion and inference
  • Show-and-Tell: 
  • Art Show: Students to showcase their creations to family and friends. Prize ceremony for best piece in each category and overall piece. Snacks and beverages TBD. 
Class Materials
  1. Notebook (Composition or Spiral, with perforated pages) for notes and experiments 
  2. 3 Ringed Binder to keep all class items 
  3. Folders with holes to place in binder 
  4. Sheet protectors 
  5. Pencils and pens
